As of the beginning of August 2020, more than 22 bcm of gas are stored in Ukrainian UGS. Icluding 5.2 bcm that belong to foreigners
The growing demand of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities by foreign traders remains a key trend in UGS operations for 7 months of 2020. At the beginning of August, the total supply of natural gas reached 22 bcm – the highest level since Ukraine became independent. At the same time, non-resident companies store 5,2 bcm of gas in Ukraine. This is almost four times more than last year. Thus, Ukrainian UGS become the guarantor of energy security for Ukraine as well as EU countries. -
Level of Ukrainian gas storage filling exceeded last year’s maximum
On July 27, 2020 the level of filling of Ukrainian UGS reached 21,8 bcm. This was the active volume of gas in underground storage facilities last year at the end of the injection season in November. This year, this level is 100 days early. -
In the first half of 2020 6,5 bcm of gas were injected into Ukrainian UGS, 2,6 bcm of them – by foreign companies
The first half of 2020 becomes the record-breaking for Ukrainian UGS in recent years. In addition to the increase of gas injection of own production, there is a significant growing demand by European customers for the use of Ukrainian UGS. -

New tariffs for gas storage services will apply from July 1, 2020
On June 24, 2020, the NKREKP approved new tariffs for gas storage services (injection, extraction) in UGS. The new tariffs take effect from July 1, 2020. The corresponding regulation № 1150 from June 24, 2020 has been published on Regulator’s site. -
Ukrtransgaz initiated more than a hundred lawsuits for a total amount UAH 31 bln in debt collection for gas balancing services
Total debt for negative natural gas non-balances of market participants in 2016-2019 amounts UAH 43,8 bln. Among them the debt of GDN (gas distribution network) operators is UAH 34,8 bln. -

Foreign companies save 2.0 bcm of gas in Ukrainian UGS. This is four times more than at the beginning of June last year
Key performance indicators of Ukrainian UGS facilities on the results of five months are higher than in the last year. In May the demand for UGS services by European gas market players increased significantly. In particular, as on June, 1, 2020 non-residents stored 2.0 bcm of gas in custom warehouse regime. This is four times more than at the same period last year. -
The government clarified the specifics of customs duties within transportation and storage of natural gas
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has clarified the methodology for payment of customs duties when transferring (internal transit) natural gas by pipeline system, in particular for needs of storage in the "Customs warehouse" regime.
