Ukraine entered summer with 15.5 bcm of natural gas in UGS storage - 22% more than the average for the last five years
As of the beginning of June, the gas level in Ukrainian underground storage facilities reached 15.5 bcm. This is 22% higher than the average for the last five years. The share of stocks made by foreign companies is gradually decreasing. Currently, non-residents own 4.4 bcm of the stored gas. -

As we have already reported, on April 30, the season of gas withdrawal from Ukrainian UGSs ended, and, accordingly, the injection season started. But clients can still withdraw their gas from UGSs. Therefore, we would like to remind you how the clients' nominations and renominations are currently being carried out, in particular, for the withdrawal of gas from UGSs. -
The Storage System Operator of Ukraine completed the gas withdrawal season 2020/2021 with record results
On April 30, one of the longest gas withdrawal seasons from the Ukrainian UGSs ended.The season, which lasted a record 194 days, was the first for an independent Storage System Operator after unbundling. It was marked by the highest withdrawal volumes in seven years - 13.2 bcm, diversification of services, and a rapid increase in customer portfolio: in the last six months alone, the Operator has concluded cooperation agreements with 111 companies from Ukraine, the EU, and Asia, which confirms the high demand and interest of global traders in the gas storage market in Ukraine. -
Introduction of a temporary action algorithm for declaration and customs clearance of natural gas operations, which is located/released in/from Сustoms warehouse regime in UGS
We would like to inform you about the introduction of a temporary algorithm of actions for declaration and customs clearance of operations with natural gas injected into / withdrawn from the customs warehouse regime. It will be valid until the adoption of the draft law "On Amendments to certain Laws of Ukraine on the Introduction of Natural Gas Accounting and Calculations by Volume of Gas in Units of Energy" № 2553 dated as of December 16, 2019. -
Cold March: 2.2 bcm of gas was withdrawn from UGS in a month – 17 times more than last year
The Storage System Operator of Ukraine is preparing for the gas extraction season's end. During March 2021, 2.2 bcm of gas was withdrawn from underground storage facilities, which is 17 times higher than the withdrawal of the same period last year. The level of UGS filling in March remains the highest in 10 years and slightly exceeds last year's figure – by 1%. At the time of entry into the current withdrawal season, the corresponding difference was 30%. -
Presenting the service of exchange trading of gas, stored in UGS
The Storage System Operator of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Energy Exchange have presented a new business opportunity for gas market participants - the service of exchange trading of gas, stored in Ukrainian underground storage facilities. Currently, the exchange trade of natural gas in UGS through the purchase and sale of short-term standardized products is available to companies, that work with customs-cleared gas. But we are working on expanding the functionality and in the near future operations can be carried out with gas stored in the mode of "customs warehouse" and "customs warehouse + short-haul". -

Frosty February: almost 3 bcm of gas were taken from Ukrainian UGS. This is 2.5 times more than last year
The Storage System Operator of Ukraine begins the spring of 2021 with record gas reserves in the underground storage facilities. As of March 1, more than 18* bcm of gas are stored in gas storage facilities - the highest level of filling for the past ten years. -
The SSO of Ukraine introduces the exchange trading of gas in UGS
The Storage System Operator of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Energy Exchange have signed an agreement on cooperation, which provides customers of storage services (injection, withdrawal) of natural gas with standardized products for exchange trade in natural gas, stored in UGSFs of Ukraine. The new functionality will allow companies to speed up and optimize gas trading operations, increase their reliability, and help to improve the final result of bidding by attracting a wider range of participants. -
In January 2021, 2.6 bcm of gas withdrawn from Ukrainian UGS – a third more than last year
The Storage System Operator of Ukraine has ended January 2021 with the highest gas reserves for the last 10 years. As on February 1, 20.9* bcm of gas were stored in underground storage facilities. At the same time, the volumes of gas withdrawal from domestic UGS' in January 2021 exceeded indicators for the same period last year by 33%, reaching 2.6 bcm.
