Ukrtransgaz calls upon DHCs to restructure UAH 10 billion debt for gas supply in 2015-2019
Ukrtransgaz calls upon district heating companies (hereinafter – DHCs) DHCs to restructure debts for consumed natural gas in the absence of a supplier. In 2015-2019, these companies withdrew about 2 bcm of natural gas from the UGS but did not pay for it. In total, the monetary equivalent of the debt exceeds UAH 10 billion, provided it is repaid at PSO prices.
Carrying out settlements for consumed energy commodities will contribute to the recovery of the gas market of Ukraine and sustainable passage of the heating seasons.
Nowadays, some debtor companies have already concluded relevant agreements with Ukrtransgaz. They can now restructure the debt by following the writing of the accrued fines and penalties and avoid potential lawsuits.
A new opportunity for DHCs to settle multibillion debts for consumed energy commodities appeared after the adoption of the Law of Ukraine “On Measures to Settle Debts of Heat Supply and Heat Generating Organizations and Enterprises of Central Water Supply and Sewerage” of 14.07.2021 No. 1639-IX. To take advantage of this opportunity, the DHC shall enter into an agreement with Ukrtransgaz on the organization of mutual settlements.
It should be noted that Ukrtransgaz is working on debt settlements together with the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine. All the details of this procedure can be found on the company's website at this link.
