Cooperation with IBRD

 

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) is one of the five institutions of the World Bank Group, founded in 1944. Today, 189 countries are members of the Bank.
Ukraine became a member of the IBRD in 1992 in accordance with the Law of Ukraine of 03.06.92 No. 2402-ХІІ "On Accession to the International Monetary Fund, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation, the International Development Association and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency".


The concept of the World Bank's partnership with Ukraine for 2017-2021 was approved on June 20, 2017 by the World Bank's Board of Directors. The purpose of the Concept is to promote a sustainable and comprehensive restoration of the Ukrainian economy.  

 

On May 4, 2017 The Grant Agreement “EC-WB Trust Fund II for Policy Advice towards the Implementation of Reforms in the Ukrainian Gas Sector and Infrastructural Support to Modernization of the Gas Transportation System” was signed between the IBRD and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine for the amount of EUR 1,047,619.


The general objective of the Grant Agreement is to provide technical assistance to JSC Ukrtransgaz for the effective implementation of the Project "Reconstruction, capital repairs and technical re-equipping of the main gas pipeline Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod” through the support of the Project Management Unit of JSC Ukrtransgaz, including the preparation of project documentation and all issues related to the environment, procurement, financial accounting and payment management in accordance with the current rules of the EBRD and the EIB regarding the projects implementation.
