Level of Ukrainian gas storage filling exceeded last year’s maximum
On July 27, 2020 the level of filling of Ukrainian UGS reached 21,8 bcm. This was the active volume of gas in underground storage facilities last year at the end of the injection season in November. This year, this level is 100 days early.
As on August, 1, 2019 there were 15,9 bcm of natural gas in underground storage facilities. Current gas injection rates are the highest for Ukrainian UGS.
It is expected that by the beginning of gas extraction season, the Ukrainian underground gas storage will be filled up about 25,5-26,5 bcm. At the same time, the maximum active volume of gas in UGS will increase by 20% in 2020 compared to last year.
With such results this injection season will become the most productive in all the history of Ukrainian gas storage facilities.
