As of the beginning of September 2020, 25.6 bcm of gas are stored in Ukrainian UGS. Gas injection rate per day peaked
As of September 1, 2020, 25.6 bcm* of natural gas are accumulated in the Ukrainian UGS. Non-resident companies own 7.9 bcm of them.
Nowadays Ukrainian storage facilities have reached the maximum possible technical level of productivity – more than 100 mcm of gas are injected to them every day. Ukrtransgaz as an operator of gas storage facilities in Ukraine ensures the continuity of gas injection and, further, gas withdrawal to/from UGS and thus creates prerequisites for energy security of Ukrainian as well as European consumers.
Gas injection
The volume of natural gas, which pumped into the UGS of Ukraine for eight months of the current year, is 13.3 bcm, that is 9% more than in 2019.
Of these, the residents injected 6.5 bcm of gas that is a decrease for 63 percent over the previous year. With the reduction of gas storage by Ukrainian companies, non-residents are actively filling up Ukrainian gas storage facilities. Since the beginning of 2020, they injected into UGS 6.8 bcm of gas, which is 4.5 times more than last year.
Use of services «Custom warehouse» ** and «short haul» ***
As of September 1, 2020, foreign traders store 7.9 bcm of gas in «Custom warehouse» regime. This is 4.4 times more than in the same period of last year. A part of these - 4.8 bcm - is accumulated in «short haul» regime. Resident companies store in «Custom warehouse» regime 1.3 bcm, which is three times less than in 2019. Including 0.04 bcm, which is the volume of gas transferred to UGS in «short haul» regime.
Natural gas reserve in UGS
As of September 1, 2020, the reserve of natural gas in underground storage facilities is 25.6 bcm. That is 60% more than last year.
