Ukrtransgaz checked all border gas metering stations except for Russia's Sudzha

November 08, 2019, Kyiv - Ukrtransgaz has accomplished its annual inspection of all, except the one, cross-border gas metering, and gas flow measurement stations at the entry/exit points from the gas transmission system.

The inspections confirmed that the determination of the quantity and physicochemical parameters of natural gas at the cross-border gas metering and gas flow stations is carried out under the conditions of the existing contracts and connection agreements.

The last station that is awaiting for the check-up is the Russian gas metering station Sudzha, located on the border between Sumy (Ukraine) and Kursk (Russian Federation). Initially, Russia's Gazprom offered to carry out a review from November 11 to November 15. However, later, Gazprom refused to accept the Ukrainian delegation during the initial period and promised to offer new dates. The Ukrainian side is looking for the new dates and insisting on the inspection of the Sudzha this year.

The GTS operator of Ukraine cooperates with seven neighboring GTS operators - in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Belarus, and Russia. In total, the Ukrainian GTS operator has 24 interconnection points. Of these, 10 are located in Ukraine and 14 - at the territories of neighboring states. Every year or every two years (according to the contracts), the GTS operator of Ukraine checks each gas metering station at the interconnection points with the representatives of the neighboring GTS operator - regardless of the territory on which such station is located. The gas metering station inspection allows both parties to ensure that the equipment of the cross-border GTS operators is in order and that the metering devices at the entry/exit points of the gas transmission system correctly measure the volumes of gas transported.
