The TSOs of Ukraine and Poland PJSC „UKTRANSGAZ” and GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. increase transmission capacities in direction Poland - Ukraine

The transmission system operators GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. (GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.) and Public Joint Stock Company “UKRTRANSGAZ” (PJSC „Ukrtransgaz”) are going to increase transmission capacities in direction to Ukraine since 1st September 2017.

TSOs agreed to offer the total capacity in Hermanowice at the following level:

  • from 1st September to 30th April: 6 mcm per day (2 825 000 kWh/h (250 000 m3/h);
  • from 1st May to 31st August: 4 mcm per day (1 887 100 kWh/h (167 000 m3/h).

Such technical measures will allow to increase natural gas import from Poland up to 1,5 times, as the capacities of IP Hermanowice are most actively used in autumn and winter.

Import of natural gas to Ukraine for 2016 through IP Hermanowice was 968 mln. cubic meters, while only third part of these volumes (about 323 mln. cubic meters) was imported in the first half of 2016. At the same time, the import of natural gas in the first half of 2017 for IP Hermanowice was 577 mln. cubic meters, which is almost 80% more than in the previous year.

Increased capacities of the entry point to Ukrainian GTS from Poland will also allow to increase diversification of routes of natural gas supply, while in winter it will be additional possibility to cover peak natural gas demand from Ukrainian consumers.
